Temporary Populations
A close count of traffic cones at the Alberta Legislature—and a study of the quiet civic lives assigned to temporary objects.
A visit intended to document a festival became a sustained observation of its traffic cones: their different ages, responsibilities, and apparent lengths of service.
The work follows temporary safety equipment alongside the musicians, volunteers, electricians, vendors, and visitors who assemble a public event. The cones participate in the same temporary occupation of the city.
