Magnum Opus
An observant filmmaker tries to begin her formal film project while quietly accumulating a record of the life unfolding around her.
Cora is trying to start her Magnum Opus. Around her, film production arrives with its cameras, schedules, and reassuring procedures. Her own attention keeps wandering toward the ordinary life moving through the building and the city beyond it.
The short film follows the distance between making something and recognizing it as work. Patient observation meets the sincere administrative effort to turn curiosity into a production.
Developed in Edmonton through an ongoing process of writing, location observation, sound, and visual studies.
